New Job = Excitement

I've mentioned in the past that I have spent the last few years teaching high school English. While that experience taught many many important lessons, I made lots of great friends, and I think I even helped a few students...I just wasn't very happy. I never felt that teaching high school would be how I would spend my life.

After completing my Bachelor's degree, I went on to grad school in order to work toward a Master's degree in English. At that point, my plan was to find a teaching position at a two year college where I could teach general education courses without a PhD. Well, when graduation rolled around, there weren't any two year college positions available, so I had to take a high school job.

Since that time, I have tried to keep my eyes open for a college level position, and luckily enough, this summer one opened up. Back in July, I went for an interview and had to teach a mock lesson to the selection committee. Within a couple of weeks, they called to offer me the position.

You guys...I was soooo excited!

So, of course, I accepted. Now, this week, things are getting started. I have to show up Wednesday for some professional development sessions, and classes begin on the 29th! So, over the next couple of weeks I will be preparing syllabi and course calendars and getting used to my new office! Wish me luck!

How about you? Have you ever made a job switch in order to finally do something you have always wanted to do?

Friday's Letters

Photobucket

Today, I’m linking up with Ashley for another edition of Friday’s Letters.

Dear New Job,

I’m super excited about you. I’m looking forward to my first official day next week. Hopefully, I’ll like you much more than the last one.

Dear Jeopardy,

When are you going to allow me to play? For several years now I have been trying to get on the show. I know I could win tons of money if you would just give me the chance.

Dear Big Brother,

You make my summer! I look forward to your crazy houseguests all year long, and this summer has been no disappointment. This summer I’m rooting for Ian!

Dear Grad School,

Finally! For the first time in my life I will not be enrolled in any classes this fall. Since I graduated over the summer, you will no longer see my name on any of your rosters, and you will no longer be getting any more of my money! Thanks for everything I have learned!

Major blog milestone!

I know I have been a little MIA the past couple of months. I have had a  ridiculously busy summer (i.e. finishing my third master's degree and finding a new job, but that's all for another post). But, somehow, in the middle of all that craziness, my little bloggy blog reached 100 GFC followers.

This little place isn't like some of those huge megablogs with thousands of followers, so I am excited and thankful for each and every one of you. You guys are the ones the keep this place going. Every time I log in I am eager and excited to read each and every comment that is made.

So, this post is for you. This post is to say thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings. For those of you that have been with me since the beginning, thanks for hanging around for this long. And, for those  of you who just recently followed, I hope you're here for the next hundred followers.

Thanks for everything!
