Boring Blogger

I admit it...I've been a bit on the boring side of blogging lately. I have several valid excuses though.

Here are a couple of them...

1. I was re-reading the Harry Potter series. It's been years since I read the very first book in the series, and I finished the seventh book back in 2007 when it was released. So, with the final installment of the film series coming to an end in a few months, I figured this was a good time to go back and immerse myself in the series again. It took me about 6 weeks to read all seven books, but I am so so so glad I did. I absolutely love this series. For me, it has been life-changing. Seriously, I know I sound like such a nerd, but I don't care. I can't imagine living a life without the experience of reading this series. My heart breaks a little more every time I think about it all being over. I could seriously talk about Harry Potter for hours without getting tired of it, so I'm just going to stop now. (I am working on another post right now about my re-reading of the series as an adult though....)

2. And the number two reason that I've been such a boring blogger lately is because I have been busy putting together puzzles. I love, love, love puzzles. I haven't put one together in a long time, so I picked one up at the store the other day, and it has completely consumed my life. All my time at home the last few days has been dedicated to my puzzle.

So, anyway, hopefully I'll get back into the blogging swing of things again. I've got several ideas for posts that I want to write, I've just got to get around to writing them....

Five Things Friday

Five reasons I don't want to go to my 10 year high school reunion tonight...

1. I went to a small high school, I graduated with 26 people. Everyone I am interested in talking to, I am friends with on Facebook, we already talk often enough.

2. I have gained a lot of weight since high school.

3. I'm one of the five people in our class that still doesn't have kids.

4. Awkward conversations with old boyfriends while my husband is standing beside me.

5. Being reminded that I have been out of high school for ten years and I am still in college...even though I am working on graduate degrees and I have a "grown-up" job...I'm still in college.

Best-Sellers Amongst the Zodiac

I have a couple of random points to make in this post.

#1 - You CAN'T just add a new sign to the zodiac and act like it's no big deal. I know, I know, the new sign has been around for a while, and the earth is tilting differently now than it was a few thousand years ago, and a few thousand years from now it'll all change again...blah, blah, blah...

I, for one, really liked being a Taurus. Now, out of the blue, you're going to tell me that I'm an Aries. Sorry, not buying it!

And what's the deal with the name of the new one: Ophiuchus? What the heck is an Ophiuchus?

*Side note* Upon further reading, I have discovered that Ophiuchus is known as the "serpent bearer."

#2 - While we're talking about birthdays, I found a really neat site today. BibliOz.com has developed this really cool thing where you input your birthday and it tells you what was on the New York Times Best-Sellers list at that point in time. Pretty neat huh??? Go ahead...click over and check it out.

So, anyway, I put in my birthday, hoping to see some huge literary giant in the number one spot on my birthday. Alas, I was disappointed. The novel that popped up when I put in my birthday was something called The Little Drummer Girl. Personally, I've never heard of it. I know nothing about it, but if you do, please share.

So...thoughts? Comments?

How do you feel about the zodiac stuff? Did your sign change?

What was the number one novel on your birthday?

Yay for a late start!

Just letting you guys know that I'm making my attempt at Project 365.

I've created a separate blog for this. It can be found here.

I'd be happy to see you there.

I know, I know, most normal people started their Project 365 back on the 1st of January.

So what if I'm a few days late?

Anyway, my first post is up, without a pic. It's more of an introductory post anyway.

But, photos start tomorrow!

This project is also on my 101 in 1001 list, so, wish me luck!

I'm a traveler at heart

In my life, I have been very lucky, especially in regard to the fact that I have had the opportunity to do a lot of traveling. As a child, family car trips were a regular thing. Every summer we would pack up and take off, sometime we had a plan in mind, other times we just drove. Then, when I got a little older, more lengthy trips became an option. The first plane trip we ever took, as a family, was when I was 13 years old. My parents packed us up, and took my brother and I to Los Angeles. That was the first BIG trip of my life, and from that point on, I was hooked!

As my teenage years progressed, I was able to take several trips. Mostly I traveled with my mother and my grandmother. I came to realize that my dad will take trips when he wants to, but he's really more of a homebody. He would rather stay in his comfort zone. But, I definitely got the travel bug from my mom and my grandma. They always seemed to be up for a trip.

Then, as I reached my twenties, more travel options began to present themselves. As an adult, I was able to take a couple of trips, by myself or with friends. I just can't seem to pass up any reasonable opportunity to see something new or experience a new place.

These are just a few of the places I have had the opportunity to visit...

And these are a few places that I would like to see...if the opportunity ever presented itself...

What about you?

What are some of your favorite places you have visited?

Where would you go if you have the choice to visit any place in the world?

I wish I lived here...

I think by now everyone has at least heard of Modern Family. Seriously, this is one of the best shows on TV right now. The families and the characters are lovable and believable. But, as I've watched the show more and more, I have begun to pay more attention to the homes that these families live in, and I love them. I would be happy to live in any one of these houses.

Out of the three families on the show, the Dunphy's home is my favorite. When my husband and I finally decide to settle down, quit moving around, and have children, this is the kind of house I want to live in, this is the type of home in which I would like to raise my children. Clair and Phil's home presents a feeling that is "homey" but still up to date. It's comfy, but not worn out. Their TV home is everything I want in a home of my own.

What's really great is that while I was considering this topic as a post, I came across this article at thenest.com which is an absolutely amazing web-site for 20-somethings.

How about you? How you ever seen your dream home on a TV show? Tell me all about it!

Happy Blogoversary to me!

MY 101 in 1001

Unless you have been living under a rock in the blogging world, you have heard about 101 in 1001. If you aren't familiar with this phrase, it's basically a list of 101 things you would like to accomplish in 1001 days.

For the last month or so, I've been putting my list together. Early in December I began to think about this list and what I would include in my list. I've seen these lists made by others for quite a while now, and I always contemplated doing one of my own, but I just never got around to it. So, this year, instead of making New Year's resolutions, I'm going to start my 101 in 1001. So, starting this on January 1, 2011 means that I have until September 27, 2013 to complete my list. Wish me luck!

I will be blogging about different items on my list as I complete them and I will periodically update my list by marking things off and noting progress for other items.
